Savers and Lending (Historical)
Savers and Lending were THORFi-era features. They are useful for understanding the protocol's history, but they should not be presented as current products or deposit instructions.
Official archived THORChain docs state that Savers and Lending are deprecated and no longer available. Current TCY claiming, staking, and recovery state should be checked from live protocol sources and dated announcements.
What Savers Were
Savers offered single-sided exposure through synthetic accounting. A user could deposit an external asset without pairing it with RUNE, and the protocol accounted for yield differently than a full liquidity-provider position.
That historical design was meant to lower the barrier to passive exposure, but it also introduced protocol-liability and solvency questions that became central to the THORFi unwind.
What Lending Was
Lending allowed users to borrow against collateral through THORFi mechanics. Like Savers, it is now archived historical content, not a current borrowing path.
When describing Lending, keep the distinction clear:
| Topic | Historical Lending | Current Wiki Wording | | --- | --- | --- | | Availability | Deprecated | Do not describe as available | | Risk | Protocol-liability and solvency risk | Use dated, source-backed phrasing | | User action | Previously borrow/repay mechanics | Do not provide current instructions |
TCY Aftermath
TCY is the recovery-token framing that followed the THORFi unwind. The wiki should explain TCY as recovery context, not as a guaranteed recovery outcome or investment recommendation.
Use current-only language for:
- TCY claiming state
- TCY staking state
- recovery votes or ADR status
- live Mimir pause flags
- any claim or redemption value
Source Posture
The stable rule for this page is conservative:
- Historical mechanics can be explained in past tense.
- Current availability must come from official docs or live THORNode state.
- Unknown live state must be labeled unavailable or needs review, not assumed active.
