Use This Article For: A historical-product guide for archived Savers/Lending context, THORFi unwind boundaries, and why old yield mechanics are not current user instructions.

Verify Elsewhere Before Claiming: Current product availability, archived Savers/Lending status, TCY recovery context, THORFi unwind records, and whether old yield or lending behavior is being misread as live.

Savers and Lending (Historical)

Savers and Lending were THORFi-era features. They are useful for understanding the protocol's history, but they should not be presented as current products or deposit instructions.

Official archived THORChain pages state that Savers and Lending were permanently deprecated on January 4, 2025, are no longer available, and remain documented only for historical reference. Current TCY claiming, staking, and recovery state should be checked from live protocol sources and dated announcements.

What This Page Can Prove

This page can support a narrow set of historical claims:

  • Savers and Lending were THORFi-era products, not current wiki product instructions.
  • Both products were permanently deprecated on 2025-01-04; their retained pages and memo handlers are historical evidence, not availability signals.
  • Savers used single-sided synthetic accounting rather than a normal paired LP position.
  • Lending was part of the same historical THORFi liability surface.
  • The THORFi unwind led to TCY recovery-token framing, but TCY is not the old Savers or Lending product returning under a new name.
  • Current TCY actions need live controls, official interfaces, and address-specific protocol evidence.

It cannot prove that any Savers, Lending, TCY claim, stake, trade, unstake, or distribution action is available now.

Evidence Ladder

Use the strongest evidence available for the claim being made:

  1. Current TCY action: current /network#network-diagnostics evidence for TCY controls such as TCYCLAIMINGHALT, TCYSTAKINGHALT, TCYSTAKEDISTRIBUTIONHALT, TCYUNSTAKINGHALT, and HALTTCYTRADING; then official interface and address-specific THORNode evidence.
  2. Current recovery framing: the TCY Recovery Timeline, official TCY docs, dated governance records, and current TCY page caveats.
  3. Historical Savers or Lending mechanics: archived THORChain docs and dated THORFi unwind sources. Use past tense and do not add deposit, borrow, repay, or yield instructions.
  4. Specific claimant status: address-specific official-interface or THORNode evidence. Static wiki pages cannot prove one user's claim, stake, or distribution state.
  5. Third-party interface support: interface implementation, quote or transaction construction, wallet permission surface, and current protocol diagnostics. Ecosystem presence is not a safety review.

If a claim moves from "Savers once worked this way" to "a user can do this now," it is missing current evidence.

What Savers Were

Savers offered single-sided exposure through synthetic accounting. A user could deposit an external asset without pairing it with RUNE, and the protocol accounted for yield differently than a full liquidity-provider position.

That historical design was meant to lower the barrier to passive exposure, but it also introduced protocol-liability and solvency questions that became central to the THORFi unwind.

What Lending Was

Lending allowed users to borrow against collateral through THORFi mechanics. Like Savers, it is now archived historical content, not a current borrowing path.

When describing Lending, keep the distinction clear:

TopicHistorical LendingCurrent Wiki Wording
AvailabilityDeprecatedDo not describe as available
RiskProtocol-liability and solvency riskUse dated, source-backed phrasing
User actionPreviously borrow/repay mechanicsDo not provide current instructions

TCY Aftermath

TCY is the recovery-token framing that followed the THORFi unwind. The wiki should explain TCY as recovery context, not as a guaranteed recovery outcome or investment recommendation.

Use current-only language for:

  • TCY claiming state
  • TCY staking state
  • recovery votes or ADR status
  • live Mimir pause flags
  • any claim or redemption value

For the dated unwind sequence, use the TCY Recovery Timeline. This page stays focused on what the archived products were and why they should remain past-tense.

Source Posture

The stable rule for this page is conservative:

  • Historical mechanics can be explained in past tense.
  • Current availability must come from official docs or live THORNode state.
  • Unknown live state must be labeled unavailable or needs review, not assumed active.

Common Misreadings

"Savers are back because TCY exists." TCY is recovery-token framing for defaulted THORFi claims. It is not the old Savers product returning as a live deposit product.

"Lending mechanics mean borrowing is available." Historical Lending descriptions explain what existed, not what can be borrowed or repaid now.

"The memo guide still lists a Savers handler, so deposits must still work." Developer documentation can preserve syntax after a product is deprecated. A documented handler does not override the explicit archived-product status or prove that current controls and interfaces accept the action.

"A claim ratio or revenue-share description proves recovery value." TCY mechanics do not guarantee par recovery, yield, or market value.

"No local wiki warning means an interface is safe." Current actions require live controls, official interface checks, transaction details, and wallet-specific scrutiny.

"Historical liability numbers are current debt or repayment totals." Dated THORFi figures are snapshots. They do not prove current claimed, distributed, recovered, or outstanding amounts.

What To Verify Before Claiming

Before making a Savers, Lending, or TCY statement, verify:

  1. Whether the statement is about historical product mechanics, TCY recovery-token framing, or current TCY operations.
  2. The product-specific archived pages for the January 4, 2025 permanent-deprecation status and historical mechanics.
  3. The TCY timeline and TCY docs for Proposal 6, claim conversion, revenue-share, and non-guarantee wording.
  4. Live TCY Mimir controls before saying claim, stake, unstake, distribution, or trading actions are available.
  5. Address-specific THORNode or official-interface evidence before discussing one claimant's status.

Non-Claims

This page does not prove:

  • Savers or Lending are currently available.
  • A user can claim, stake, trade, unstake, or receive TCY distributions now.
  • Full recovery, par redemption, or that any claimant has been made whole.
  • TCY price, yield, suitability, or investment value.
  • That a third-party interface is safe or using current claim logic.

Verify Before Claiming

  • Current TCY operations, balances, distributions, or recovery progress.
  • That archived memo or product documentation represents an enabled action rather than preserved historical syntax.
  • Current solvency, restart, or safety state beyond dated incident and upgrade reports.
